Behind the Scenes Writing Tag

So I thought it would be fun to do another tag. I saw this tag done over at Opal Swirls; and thought it would be fun. Besides, I like talking about writing.

Rules:
Answer the questions and tag people.

Is there a certain snack you like to eat while writing?

I try not snack. So I will just drink countless cups of tea and coffee. But if I do snack, I like peanuts.

When do you normally write?

I haven't written in a while cause I have been so busy with studying and being sick... fun times. But I mostly write at night. I find I get more inspired at night than I do in the day time. My mind runs wild with ideas.

Where do you write?

On my bed with my laptop. Or in the kitchen standing up with my laptop on my bench. I tend to write better in open spaces.

How often do you write a new novel?

I come up with a new story idea once or twice a month. I might write 1000 to 5000 words then stop... then get back to it. I will finish one to two novels a year.

Do you listen to music while you write?

Yes. I listen to vast variety of music. It all depends on the story I'm working on. I listen to music very possible minute.

What do you write on? laptop or paper?

I write on my laptop. I'm a fast typeset and can get my ideas down faster than writing on paper. I will sometimes write down small ideas and scenes on paper or on notes on my phone. But I prefer my laptop.

Is there a special ritual you have before/after you write?

I open up the Pinerest board of whatever story I am working on for inspiration, and help for when I get writers block, or to help with character and setting descriptions.

What do you do to get into the mood to write?

I will watch the Vlog Brothers. Read a book. Go on Pinerest. Other than that, I really just have to be in "the mood" to do so. I need to start making more of a habit of sitting down and writing, rather than just thinking about writing.

What is always near the place you write?

A laptop wall charger and my headphones.

Do you have a reward system for your word count?

No. Just the satisfaction of having a decent number of words on my document.

Is there anything about your writing process that others might not know about?

Nothing interesting. Sometime I will read my characters dialogue aloud to see if it sounds natural. I often have a vague idea of what the end is going to be. But I'm never sure what is going to happen in the middle.

Again I am not going to tag anyone (I'm to tired to) Writers go a head and do this tag. It is cool.

A Writers Life For Me Tag

Hello Readers.

I just found a writers tag created by one of my favorite book tubers Sara Ella and her Friend Sara Crawford. I do not have book-tube (yet). So I am just going to do it over here. And I encourage any of you bloggers to do this tag as well. Spread the love. Remember to take a look at their blogs and channels, and subscribe. Don't forget to credit them.

A few rules before we begin.

  • Thank the person who tagged you. leave a link to their blog.
  • Answer the ten questions.
  • Re-post the picture.
  • Tag 5-10 bloggers.
  • Have fun!!!

1. What kind of writer are you?

I am a writer of poetic metaphorical YA fiction. I like to write fantasy, contemporary, Dystopian fiction. I enjoy creating new worlds within our world, whether that be in the future, or in modern time.

2. When did you start writing? What made you want to try it?

I always wanted to be a writer. When I was a little girl I would make "books" and write stories in them. As I grew up I would write stories in my head, but never write them down. Up until last year, I could hardly put words down on paper. The motivation came when I found out about NaNoWriMo, and I wrote and finished my first ever novel Clandestine.

3. What inspires your stories?

Songs, Pictures on pinterest, Dreams, people I know. One little things can set off a shock wave of inspiration. And It is beautiful.

4. What themes do you like to explore in your writing?

Sisterhood, mental illness, the power of humanity, and the power that we have over each other. I don't know...something like that.

5. Are you a pantster or a plotter or a bit of both?

I'm more of a planner. I like to have an idea, or some sort of plan written out before I sit down. I will write up a document on the idea, and how I will develop that into a story plan.

6. Where are you at in your journey? Querying, agented, published?

Still in the writing stage. But I want to be all the above in the next couple of years!

7. Have you ever entered any writing contests? Finaled? Won?

No. I want to enter a writing contest. I'm hoping to do so in the next couple of months to a year.

8. Who are your writer heroes?

Tahereh Mafi is my biggest writing inspirational person. Her style inspired me to write the way I do. I also love John Green, Veronica Roth, Markus Zarkus, Keira Cass, Racheal Craw, Jennifer Niven...Etc.

9. Have you been to a writing conference? Share your best or worst conference experience.

It is a dream of mine to attend a writer conference. Maybe one day,

10. Top 3 tips you'd give to newbie writers?

One: Write like you're talking. Make things flow.

Two: Keep dreaming. No idea is to BIG or to SMALL.

Three: Keep Writing.

Have fun with this tag!

What do you miss about your childhood?

This is a good question. I think it would the being young and free. There was not a care in the world. We were oblivious to all the problems around us. That is what I miss.

Lots of friends or a few good friends?

Only a few good friends. I'm not all that good at making then keeping friends. I mean, people want to be my friend. But I try and keep it to a small amount, I like it that way.

Winter evenings or Summer mornings?

Summer morning. Cause it is still crisp. But you can walk outside in the fresh air.

Coast or inland?

I have always liked the coast for some reason.

Where and what would your dream house be like?

I would have a big woods out the back. A pine wood. I would want it to be old, with a basement and an attic. And a room with bookshelves on the walls. And secret trap doors....

Do you tend to organise or leave mess?

My desk at my course is very organized. My room will get really messy. But that is cause I don't have time half the time in order to clean. But I love having things in place.

What sort of music do you like?

I am not sure what the genre is called. But things like Of Monsters and Men, Daughter, Lorde, Broods, and piano pieces.

Do you have any pets?

We have a cat. But she is not mine.

Do you live in the country or city?

In the country.

Do you play an instrument? If so, what?

I play the piano! :) I need to do some more practice. Cause I haven't played in a while.

Would you like to visit New Zealand someday?

I am born and bred in New Zealand. But I can still answer this question. I would like to go to the south island. I have not been there yet.

My Questions:

Favorite color?
Favorite sound?
How long have you been blogging?
Do you have lots of stuff on your bedroom wall? Or do you like it clear?
What is your comfort food?
If your life was being made into a movie, who would you cast to play you?
What kind of computer do you use?
Summer or Winter?
What fantasy world would you most like to visit?
One thing that will make you smile?
You are running away, and you are only aloud to take five things with you. What would you take?

I am not going to be able to tag 11 bloggers. But I will tag the ones I know.

T.A.Christensen | Adriana Gabriel | Brett Michael Orr | Briana Mae Morgan | + anyone else :)))

I come to you today with a blog award/tag. Thank you Adriana and Opal for the tag. Sorry if I haven't completed other things I have been tagged for. I will do my best.

Pinterest is my FAVORITE social media platform. And I now have over 100 followers. (Follow me! I promise you will not be disappointed) I have just recently created some new boards, so check those out. (Link to my pinterest is on my side bar)

I'm growing my hair out very long. It is now covering my chest. But my hair is very curly. So it's longer when it's straightened. #HairGoals

One Lovely Blog Hop

Hey Guys.

So I've been tagged by the wonderful Adriana Gabriel to do the One Lovely Blog Hop. Thank you for tagging me. :)

The rules for the hop are:
  • Share 7 Lovely Facts about myself.
  • Share links to blogs I enjoy reading.
I feel as if I have done so many of these "facts about me" posts. But there is always room for more. So here are some more facts about me.

  • I like almost anything Vintage
Vintage things just give me a thrill. Anything old, or rustic, I want it! This goes the the extent of vintage clothes, old stamps, to music. I also have records pinned to my wall. It's pretty cool.

  • I love sitting cross legged
If I can sit cross legged, then I will stay in that position for a long time. (I'm sitting cross legged right now) The only down side to this is I get a dead leg. And that leads on to pins-and-needles. Once I got up and I had a dead leg.  And I tried walking down the hallway, and I just about broke my foot, cause I couldn't feel it, so my leg collapsed on itself.

  • I play the Piano
I'm not the best. But I taught myself to play a bit of it. And i love the fact that I can make music.

  • My House has many Mirrors
My Dad really likes vintage mirrors. So we have a collection of them on a lot of the walls. We had a really big one at some point. I'm not sure what happened to it, either we sold it, or someone stole it. (I think someone stole it)

  • I like creating stories from songs and music videos
I get a lot of my writing inspiration from music and music videos. At the moment, I would like to write a story based on Taylor swifts video Blank Space. I think that would make an interesting story.

  •  I love the sound of a Rain
The other day I down loaded a white sound app. So now I can now listen to rain sounds. I find it very calming. The last couple of days it's been raining on and off. But not enough to get the nice rain sounds. But to me, a good rain storm, with thunder and lighting are one of the best things. (make sure you have a nice cup of something hot, and a blanket)

  • I'm crazy about Maps
I think I put this on my 30 things you might not know about me. But I love maps!

Now to NOMINATE some awesome people.

And Anyone else, feel free to do this tag.

Valentines Day Tag

Hello Everyone.

I am doing this tag late. Cause I know it is no longer Valentines (single awareness) Day.
Thank you Adriana for tagging me.

Rules:

Answer the Questions (obviously)
Tag who ever you want (there is no limits on how many people you tag)
Link back to the person who tagged you.

The Questions:

1. Are you currently in a relationship? (if this one is too personal, it can be skipped)
2. Do you consider Valentine’s Day a Big Deal?
3. Do you like flowers? If yes, what kind? If no, why?
4. What’s your favorite kind of chocolate?
5. What’s you LEAST favorite kind of chocolate?
6. Date night! Would you prefer to go to a fancy restaurant or go somewhere more laid-back? Or order in?
7. Stuffed bears! They’re cute, they’re cuddly, they keep you safe from nighttime monsters. If your significant other got you one for Valentines, would you think it was ridiculous, funny, or cute? (the act, not the bear)
8. Favorite romantic-type book?
9. Favorite romantic movie?
10. What’s your love language (physical touch, words of affirmation, quality time, acts of service, gifts)?
 Answers:
1. Are you currently in a relationship? (if this one is too personal, it can be skipped)
Nope. I am single.
2. Do you consider Valentine’s Day a Big Deal?
Not really. I think that people make to much of a big deal over it. I think it should be more centered around love, than people and their "Relationships" (If you know what I mean)
3. Do you like flowers? If yes, what kind? If no, why?
*shy voice* yeah I like flowers. I have never really had a favorite. I like all flowers.
4. What’s your favorite kind of chocolate?
All chocolate is good!!! But if I have to pick, I really like Caramel chocolate.
5. What’s you LEAST favorite kind of chocolate?
Question #4, all the chocolate is good! Though there is this chocolate that you can buy that is chilly flavor, and I would never eat that....
6. Date night! Would you prefer to go to a fancy restaurant or go somewhere more laid-back? Or order in?
Something more laid-back. Cause I'm the type of person who would be really awkward if I went to a fancy place... I would like to go somewhere like my favorite Cafe. I know this is weird, but I have this date bucket list. And when I do end up dating, who ever is crazy enough to date me, is going to be victim to my oddness. ;)
7. Stuffed bears! They’re cute, they’re cuddly, they keep you safe from nighttime monsters. If your significant other got you one for Valentines, would you think it was ridiculous, funny, or cute? (the act, not the bear)
As much as I would be bad at admitting it. If someone got me a stuffed bear, my heart would melt, and I would cry and love it forever. I think the act would only be ridiculous if you didn't have a really good relationship with the person. Cause then it would just be kinda awkward. (get my point?)
8. Favorite romantic-type book?
I don't really read "Romance" books. The only ones I can put into that category is John Green's books. They are my favorite "Romance" Stories.
9. Favorite romantic movie?
10 Things I Hate about You. That is the best movie!!!
10. What’s your love language (physical touch, words of affirmation, quality time, acts of service, gifts)?
Gift giving is my love language. And maybe a bit of acts of service.
Tag Time:
Now you guys don't have to do this if you don't want to, cause I know I am late to the tag.
And everyone who reads this. Go forth and spread the love!

Epic Reads Tag

Hello Readers.

Again! It's been a while since I did a post. And I have been trying very hard. But the only internet device I have on hand at the moment is my Tablet... I have no laptop, and can hardly sit down on my family's PC for long enough with out someone else 'needing' it. (I'll stop ranting)

So I am here today with an Awesome tag! And I am very exited about this one, cause I watched the original book tag on Epic reads, and thought; I would like to do this one.

Without further adieu. Thank you Wild Horse over at Opal Swirls for tagging me :)

  • If you could invite one author and one of their fictional characters to tea, who would you invite and what would you serve them?
I would invite Amy Ewing and her character Violet Lasting. I would serve them something simple, like the kind of luxury food that the people of the marsh would eat. So black tea and white bread, or something like that...

  • What book do you wish the author would write the prequel for?
I would love to know more about Miriam and her sister in SPARK by Rachael Craw. I think it's just Miriam's story (what you heard of it in the book) it just intrigued me.

  • Which two characters (NOT from the same book) do you think would make a good couple?
Gahhh! why such a hard question? Margo Roth (paper towns) and Kyle Kingson (beastly)... I don't know, that was all really off the top of my head...

  • If you ran into your favorite author on the subway and only could say one sentence to them who is it and what would it be?
John Green. Ummm, I would say, "Life is a metaphor." And then I would smile like I knew the secrets of life, then look away.

  • What book made you a reader and why?
The book Thief. Cause it taught me that there is power in words. (I cried. But I think I've already summed that up...)

  •  Incendio! Your bookshelf just caught fire! What is the one book you would save?
I would grab my Bible. Its the only valuable book I have in my room. But I would take my old Bible, the one I got when I was much younger.

  • Which dystopian world would you want to live in and why?
I would chose Divergent. Cause I like Urban Dystopia's. And I think if would be cool to do the aptitude test, and chose a faction. And when I was reading the first and second book (haven't read the third yet) I was very comfortable in the world. I liked being there.

  • What is your most Epic Read of all time?
The Hunger Games!!! That was pretty Epic.

Tagging time:

And all you guys! Spread the love around.  Happy Valentines Day!

Sisterhood of the World Blogger Award

Hello Readers.

So Adriana Tagged me to do the Sister Hood of the World Blogger Award! Thank you so much. I love it how I have been excepted into this online community of writers and bloggers. And we do these amazing tags and such. It's really good.

As you might have noticed, I have not been blogging so much lately. And I know I should, cause my holidays are coming to a close and I don't will not have that much time on my hands. But I promise, to myself and everyone who follows me on my journey. I will be making time to do writing and blogging. Even though I'm not payed to do it (I wish I was though, that would be amazing) But it's my dream to become a writer and I will never put that down, EVER!

On to the tag. (I have seen hardly anyone outside my family since last term/Christmas. I need human
interaction. That is why I'm talking so much. Just bare with me.)

Rules for this tag:

Thank the blogger who nominated you, link back to their site.

Post the Award logo on your blog.

Answer the ten question they've set you

Make up ten questions for your nominees to answer

Nominate ten people

Mint Chip Ice Cream or Cookie Dough? (Yes, this is the first question. Priorities people!)

I would have to go for the Mint Chip Ice-Cream. But to be Honest, I will eat just about any Ice-Cream. I'm not that picky.

Favorite book you have read so far in 2015?

*guilty face* I have not finished any books in this new year. I have just not been in a reading mood. But I did go back to an old favorite, and read parts of it over the early course of this month. And that is Guys are Waffles, Girls are Spaghetti. It was about two years ago that my youth pastor gave me a copy, cause that was what we were studying for small groups.
And I keep on going back to it, again, and again, and again. And the older I get, and the more I have gotten to know the opposite gender (P.S. As of last year, I finally got to talking to them. I was a scared little thing. And it turns out guys aren't that bad. I'm ashamed of myself ....)
I have gotten so much out of this book. It really it amazing!

All time favorite book/series you read in 2014

Wow this is a hard one. Cause I read a couple of book series last year. But I think I am going to have to say the Hunger Games. Only cause that series impacted me so greatly. I think about it all the time, I cry about it (even now). I am such a big fan. But I think cause it was so well written. And the depth to it to so eminence.

What is your Favorite song right now?

I have an interesting answer. And that is Love me like you do by Ellie Goulding. I kinda fell in love with this song (like I do all her music)

Your all time favorite blog post from last year?

I suppose you mean my own blog post. The post I enjoyed the most was writing out My Writing Wishlist. That one was so fun to do, cause I got to share some of the story ideas I am dying to write.

What is your favorite blog you recently discovered? Why?

I don't really have a "Favorite blog" and have not come over any new ones recently. But the last blog that I checked up on that I had found last year. Was Kiera Cass's Website. And she has a blog on there. I lover her writing. And I watch her vlogs. Her websites HERE

If there is one blogger you could meet and spend the day with, who would it be? Why?

Haha (I want to say this with out sounding creepy...) I seriously love all these bloggers to pieces. They are some of the greatest people I have ever met, (and never met) But you all live so far away! I mean even you guys that live in Australia, that is a long way away (although you guys have higher chances of meeting me cause I have family over there...)
Any way. So its hard its a hard decision to make... But I am going to go with the girl that tagged me for this tag, Adriana Gabrielle. I would love to meet this internet buddy, she is amazing, hands down.

When you go to the bookstore are you most likely to purchase a book you have read but don’t own or a brand new book?

I would most likely get myself one I have not read. But it would be one that I had read reviews and stuff on. (Fun Fact: All the books I've read in YA, I don't even own. I get them out from the library. Got to love the library)

How do you feel about e-readers? Do you like them? Use them? or do you prefer actual books?

I have a tablet with and E-reader on it. But I find it hard to read books on a screen. I focus better when I read something on paper. I have noting against E-readers. But personally would much rather the real thing. And when I have my book published, I would want it in paper copy's, and not just E-books. I want to hold my "Baby" in my hands!!!

Okay! Fantasy time! Merfolk or Vampires?

Merfolk/Mermaid. I don't fancy Vampires all that much. I just had to share this picture....

My set of questions:

  • When writing, do you keep a notebook near-by to write down anything that comes to mind?
  • Are you a morning, or a night person?
  • Song you have stuck in your mind?
  • What was the last book you read?
  • What is the meaning of life?
  • Have you ever just started crying when writing a scene?
  • Have you ever met an author face to face? If so, what was it like?
  • Tea or coffee?
  • Your life is now the last movie/TV show you watched. What was that? And are you happy or worried?
  • You one day stumble upon a time machine. You can go to one period in time. And you can take someone from your current time with you. Who would you take? And what where would you go? Plot twist: You have to stay in that period forever, with that one person you took with you. Chose wisely.

Hope you all liked these questions. (I'm dying to know how you will answer them.)

I don't think I know ten blogger. But I shall do my best.

And if there are any of you that I have not tagged. Then pleas feel free to do it. And comment your link below so I can see it. Cause I would love to read it!

Until Next Time.
Rachel
